Mine Safety & Health (MSHA) Part 46 & Part 48 (Surface)

MSHA mandates that New Miners receive 24 hours of initial New Miner Training when beginning work on a mine site. Then MSHA mandates that Miners have 8 hours of refresher training every year thereafter. Safe Steps Training provides your organization with not only an MSHA Approved Instructor for training, but also a contact year round just in case you have questions. Safe Steps Training will train your organization under our MSHA Approved training plan or your training plan if you have one.
 

Topics Covered during MSHA Training; Miners Rights, Self Rescue and Respiratory, Transportation and Communication, Introduction to Work Environment, Escape and Emergency Evacuation Plans, Firefighting and Fire Warning, Ground Control, High Walls, Water Hazards, Pits, Spoil Banks, Night Work, First Aid, Electrical, Health, and more.

Occupational Safety & Health 10 Hour Construction Industry Outreach Program (CFR 1926)

The 10 hour OSHA Program is intended for workers. This class will emphasize hazard identification, avoidance, control, and prevention, not just OSHA Standards.

Topics Include : Introduction to OSHA, Inspection process, Fall Protection, Electrical, Personal Protective and Life Saving Equipment, Health Hazards, Stairways and Ladders, Tools, Scaffolds, Excavations, and more.

Students successfully completing the course will receive a certificate from Safe Steps Training and in 1-3 weeks you will receive card from OSHA and the Department of Labor.

30 Hour Construction Industry Outreach Program
(30CFR 1926)

The 30 hour OSHA Program is intended to provide a variety of training to people with some safety responsibility.

Topics Include : Introduction to OSHA, Inspection, Fall Protection, Electrical, Struck by, Fire Protection, Tools, Welding, Scaffolds, Cranes, Excavations. Concrete and Masonry, Confined Space Entry, Powered Industrial Vehicles, Ergonomics and so much more.

Students successfully completing the course will receive a certificate from Safe Steps Training and in 1-3 weeks you will receive a card from OSHA and the Department of Labor.

There are so many classes and combinations of classes and levels that can be taught that it is difficult to list every possibility. Please contact us with any individual needs or questions.

Cancellation Policy for Individuals attending a class setting hosted by Safe Steps Training: Cancellations made without 5 business days notice will be charged the full rate. Safe Steps Training will apply your fee to another class that can be taken within 6 months. After that, the fee is considered forfeited. Upon some unforeseen event that results in Safe Steps Training cancelling the class, we will be happy to give a full refund.


Cancellation Policy for Organizations Hosting Training: Cancellation fee is based on a case by case basis.


Travel - Locations outside a 75 mile radius may incur travel costs. Some factors would include route of travel, training times, etc. Please contact Safe Steps for a quote

Spanish - Spanish class fees differ slightly. Please contact Safe Steps for a quote.

Rex is President of Safe Steps Training, LLC, a Certified Mine Safety Professional (CMSP), and is certified as an SSTM for the North Carolina Department of Labor's STAR Program. He is an Approved Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) Instructor as well as an Authorized Outreach Trainer for Occupational Safety & Health Standards for the Construction Industry. He also received the Manager of Environmental, Safety & Health and Construction-Manager of Environmental, Safety & Health Certificates from the N.C. State University and received the Advanced Safety Certificate from the National Safety Council.

Mitch Harris, Jr., SSTM

Mitch and his toys!Mitch is an energetic speaker that truly motivates people. He is the Vice President of Safe Steps Training and is certified as an SSTM for the North Carolina Department of Labor's STAR Program. He is an Approved Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) Instructor and a Certified Flagger Instructor. He served on the Carolina STAR Safety Conference, LLC board for 5 years and as a team leader for 2 years. He has been in the mining, chemical, and steel industry for 20 years specializing in safety and heavy equipment. He has served as the mine, plant, and behavior based facilitator at PotashCorp, Inc. (PCS Phosphate) as well as the safety coordinatr at Nucor Steel.

Janet Sumner, SSTM, MESH

Janet's passion for safety and the construction industry comes through in everything she does. She is the Vice President of Risk Management for RN Rouse and current President of the Carolina STAR Safety Conference, LLC. She is certified as an SSTM for the North Carolina Department of Labor's STAR Program and an Authorized Outreach Trainer for Occupational Safety & Health Standards for both the General & Construction Industry. She also has received the Manager of Environmental, Safety & Health and Certificate from the N.C. State University and is a Mold Abatement Certified Inspector/Abatement Review Officer.

Ted Wallace

Ted breathes this emergency rescue stuffTed has an extensive knowledge of emergency response and emergency response/evacuation planning.  He is an instructor at the Texas A & M TEEX Industrial Fire School and and has met the NFPA standards for Level 2 Instructor.  He is a Certified Hazardous Materials Technician and is currently a member of the North Carolina Hazardous Materials Regional Response program. He and is currently a Rescue Technician Instructor as well as a Water Safety, CPR/First Aid, and Lifeguard Instructor. Ted is also a North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician.

Sarah Rouse

Sarah is a dynamic instructor. She makes everyone in the class feel at home, which makes for a great learning atmosphere. She is certified to provide you with Basic Life Support (Including Healthcare Provider) training through the American Heart Association. Sarah is also an Emergency Care Instructor through the National Safety Council. She is very zealous about making sure that everyone attending her CPR or First Aid classes leaves the class feeling confident that they can perform in an actual emergency.

Mine Safety and Health Training - MSHA Training
Mine Safety (MSHA) training offered in both Part 46 or Part 48. Safe Steps
Training can provide MSHA training under your plan, under our MSHA Approved Training Plan, or we can help you develop a mine training plan as well as get it approved by MSHA.

Occupational Safety and Health Training
10 and 30 hour OSHA Outreach Programs Training is available. Have your employees get their 10 hour OSHA or 30 hour OSHA cards. They can get the training in the classroom setting or Online. OSHA training is available Online at Online-OSHA.com

General Safety
We can provide assistance with your Voluntary Protection Program or state program such as the Carolina Star. We provide training in the areas of Confined Space, Forklift training, Aerial Work Platform (AWP) or Manlift training, Recordkeeping, Fire Extinguisher, and the list goes on. CPR & First Aid Training
Safe Steps Training offers training in three different formats. American Heart Association, National Safety Council, and American Red Cross. Safe Steps Training has the experience and expertise to be able to offer you a choice of training programs. This is something that is very rare in the area of training consultants. Our immediate surrounding areas are New Bern, Kinston, Goldsboro, Washington, and Jacksonville North Carolina

Emergency Response
Part of a good safety plan is preparing for "What If." Safe Steps Training helps prepare for that by offering Industrial Water Safety & Self Rescue, Low and High Angle Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Structural Collapse, and Mechanical
