Is there an easy way to keep up with when the 2 year certification expires?
That would be great so people were not scrambling at the last minute! That is why Safe Steps Training goes the extra mile!
Our office manager and I have a system in place to contact you by email and post card approximately 60 days before you expire and again by email in another 30 days if you have not registered with us. Nobody else around here is doing that for you!

I know you talk positive about Safe Steps but what are
people like me saying?
You are right, the people taking the classes are who really matters. That is why we have evaluation sheets to help us as well as the American Heart Association track how classes are going. Here is a picture of one and below are other comments made:
"Great Instructor, even provided snacks"
"One of the best classes we've had, thanks"
"I enjoyed the class and the relaxed atmosphere"
"I really enjoyed the class. It was a great learning environment"
"Fun & interesting, learned a lot while having fun at the same time :)"
""Sarah, Thank you so much for accommodating us on such short notice. I have heard nothing but good things about the class from our employees. You have a very relaxed teaching style and you made the class not only very informative but fun too, with your great student interaction and hands on training. Looking forward to our next class." What class or certification do I need
and what are my options?
and what are my options?
First lets look at common acronyms you may see here on our sites or your employer may have mentioned:
AHA = American Heart Association | BLS = Basic Life Support | HCP = Healthcare Provider
CPR = Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation | FA = First Aid | NSC = National Safety Council
AED = Automated External Defibrillator

Can I do part of this stuff Online?
Good question. Some Online Providers allow for the entire class to be taken Online and there are a lot of employers that do not accept this type certification. (understandably). The American Heart Association allows for two different class formats: All Classroom & eLearning.
eLearning courses are delivered in three parts. Students must complete an in-person "skills session" in addition to online learning. A skills session is comprised of Part 2, skills practice, and Part 3, skills testing. This three-part delivery effectively blends cognitive learning with skills training.
For successful course completion, AHA requires that eLearning courses with psychomotor skills include:
Part 1: Online cognitive lessons - anytime and anywhere with computer access
Part 2: Hands-on skills practice
Part 3: Hands-on skills testing
Since the AHA does not see this eLearning as a lessor method of learning, they do not differentiate they certification cards meaning that if you take the All Classroom training or the eLearning, your certification card will look exactly the same.

I don't see any refresher classes on your Open Enrollment.
Do you have any just refresher classes?
These are all great questions. A few providers in the area offer New Student and Refresher classes but then they sometimes cancel classes due to lack of enrollment. Safe Steps offers all their classes as New Student and welcomes Refresher people to attend with the New. Considering, that you only have to do it every two years there is not much time difference between a new or a refresher class. We also do not charge any different for the class with the exception of the cost of the book. Offering only new allows for much more opportunity for people to attend class since new and refresher can attend together. I will say though that when we have all refresher people sign up for a class we will adjust on the fly on just teach the class as a refresher. We do not cancel classes for lack of enrollment. If you are the only one in the class, we will still have the class.

I need my CPR NOW! Do you have any classes today or tomorrow?
That does happen sometimes and we do understand that .
Safe Steps has an option called "Just For Me." These options offered are only to meet you 1 on 1 for a skills session and therefore is more costly. An instructor and you will work out what time works for both of you (if any that being said, there may be a time

The National Safety Council concentrates on the Workplace. Meaning, they follow the AHA guidelines but look at it and set the training up from an industrial setting point of view. NSC through us will only cover CPR and/or First Aid for Adults. If you are a Fitness Trainer, unless your employer wants it, you are not required to have First Aid or Child/Infant CPR & AED. It has been our experience that many of these take just the NSC CPR/AED and their certification goes through just fine. We offer the CPR/AED with or without the First Aid for your convenience but do not offer this program Online. |
Do you do training for groups?
Why yes we do! Contact us for group rates and things. We can do training for your group at our location or yours. We typically offer training at our location with a minimum of 4 paying spots or at yours with a minimum of 6 paying spots.
One of the biggest problems we have providing CPR Training on site at other locations is not having enough room. We do use a 1:1 manikin to student ratio so you can figure that your location will need at least 2 1/2 feet of space. Meaning, a six (6) foot table would fit 2 people whereas an eight (8) foot table would fit 3 people. Contact us if you need a quote.

When will I get my card?
Completion cards are issued by the American Heart Association and we have no control over them. Cards typically arrive within two weeks but in rare occurrences it could be longer. If you need proof of attending and passing a class we do have forms we fill out for you to take with you to show that we are just waiting for the actual card to arrive from the AHA.
If you loose your card or need a replacement for any other reason we do have a spot on the Open Enrollment Calendar for you to request another card.

Other than that we look forward to seeing you at one of our future training sessions! I am going to throw a bunch more stuff below this line but it is just for people that can see really well, like to read, and don't have anything to do right now - LOL.

Oh No! What Do I Do?
Concerned about your employees knowing what to do in an emergency but you don't have
the time to host a CPR class. Your clients and customers are important and how your
employees respond to one of those clients that has a medical emergency is going to have either
a positive or negative public relations impact on your business.
We will cover things such as;
Not becoming a victim, mentally preparing yourself, calling 911, disease transmission, Hands Only CPR, Recovery Position, Choking, and a few other things.
You may think all these topics are things that people already know,
you will be surprised! We are an out of the box type training company and these
topics are no exceptions.
